BEARING INSTALLATION

  1. Wipe the bearing and shaft clean.
  2. Apply a light film of SAE 20 or 30 weight NON-DETERGENT oil to the bearing surface of the shaft (the same type of lubricant contained in the ball unit).
  3. Install the shaft and tighten the mounting fasteners before alignment. Rap the shaft smartly with rubber or wooden mallet to assure final, precise alignment of bearing.
  4. When the shaft turns smoothly and easily, washers, collars, and pulleys may be fastened in place. Collar clearance should allow about 1/32" shaft end play.
  5. Install the belt or chain and adjust the tension. AVOID EXCESSIVE BELT OR CHAIN TENSION.
  6. Lubricate. (if an oil ball, always use a NON-DETERGENT OIL). CAUTION: If shaft must be removed at any time, first be sure to REMOVE ALL BURRS including those raised by set screws to avoid scratching the bore of the bearing.
