BEARING INSTALLATION
- Wipe the bearing and shaft clean.
- Apply a light film of SAE 20 or 30 weight NON-DETERGENT oil to the bearing surface of the shaft (the same type of lubricant contained in the ball unit).
- Install the shaft and tighten the mounting fasteners before alignment. Rap the shaft
smartly with rubber or wooden mallet to assure final, precise alignment of bearing.
- When the shaft turns smoothly and easily, washers, collars, and pulleys may be
fastened in place. Collar clearance should allow about 1/32" shaft end play.
- Install the belt or chain and adjust the tension. AVOID EXCESSIVE BELT OR CHAIN
TENSION.
- Lubricate. (if an oil ball, always use a NON-DETERGENT OIL). CAUTION: If shaft
must be removed at any time, first be sure to REMOVE ALL BURRS including those
raised by set screws to avoid scratching the bore of the bearing.
