| 1. Wipe the bearing clean. 2. Apply a light film of 30 weight oil to the bearing surface of the shaft. 3. Install the shaft and tighten the mounting fasteners before alignment. Rap the shaft smartly with rubber or wooden mallet to assure final, precise alignment of bearing. 4. When the shaft turns smoothly and easily, washers, collars, and pulleys may be fastened in place. Collar clearance should allow about 1/32" shaft end play. 5. Install the belt or chain and adjust the tension. Avoid excessive belt or chain tension. 6. Lubricate. Caution: If shaft must be removed at any time, first be sure to remove all burrs including those raised by set screws to avoid scratching the bore of the bearing. |
Bearings with oil cup: We recommend relubrication of bearings at the time of installation- even though a full supply of oil is provided at the factory. Conditions encountered during shipping and storage may cause some oil loss. If the bearing bushing is left in contact with paper, cardboard, or any oil absorbing material the oil will be absorbed out of the bearing through the porous bushing. Triangle Steel Bearing Cartridge Units have large oil retaining felts for substantial lubricant capacity. Once the bearing is in use and the cartridge and felt saturated with oil, long bearing life may be expected under the proper conditions. The standard oil supplied is heavy turbine oil (a good grade of industrial mineral oil, non-detergent, SAE 30 viscosity). Bearing use at elevated or very low temperatures may require oil of a different viscosity. Bearings with grease fittings: Bearings with special lubricant: |
